| The four week Community Medicine Clerkship at UIC-Christ
provides the student an opportunity to experience family practice care delivered in a
variety of community based settings, and to observe the real-world application of
community medicine principles. As a student, you accompany faculty and resident
physicians to a number of clinical sites, including outpatient clinics in underserved
communities; and public health immunization, prenatal and STD clinics. Through
hands-on patient care, and small group discussions, you will improve your knowledge of
environmental health, community health assessment procedures, preventive medicine, and
cross-cultural health issues. You will also gain an appreciation for how networking
with community resources can enhance your effectiveness as a physician no matter what your
chosen specialty. Dr. Linda Morgan directs the clerkship. |
