
WIN Community College Project
WIN is a demonstration project of the Region V Women's Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor in cooperation with the University of Illinois at Chicago, the College of DuPage, and Truman College to encourage women in these colleges to develop interest in careers involving nanoscale science and technology.
Community College Project Components
Nanotechnology Seminars and Field Trips
Students will participate in three field trips to nanotechnology laboratories in research facilities throughout the Chicago region and meet lab technicians and researchs who are breaking new ground in nano research fields.
Scholarships
Four (4) $500 Nanoscientists of the Future scholarships will be available on a a competitive basis to participating students.
Mentoring
WIN includes a website with information on careers in nanoscale science and technology. Group mentoring with women mentors working in nanotechnology/nanoscience is conducted via a listserv allowing WIN members to ask education and career-related questions to mentors.
