and has steadily grown to establish a Center for Nanotechnology.

U.S. Department of Energy: Office of Science
The Department of Energy's Office of Science is
pioneering the new field of nanoscience, the study
of matter at the atomic scale.

National Institutes of Health
While much of biology is grounded in nanoscale
phenomena, NIH has not re-classified most of its
basic research portfolio as nanotechnology.

European Union NanoForum
Nanoforum was originally funded by the European Commission through FP5. Since July 2007 it has been operating as a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG), giving it legal status and the ability to enter into contracts with other parties, including tenders and new EU-funded projects.
