The External Advisory Committee chaired by co-PI Morrissey, is comprised of 8 experts and practitioners in the field of women in science and engineering. Two members are faculty at CIC Institutions that are also ADVANCE grantees (Carnes, Stewart, Valian), and 5 are representatives from STEM professional societies or are policy experts (Brainard, Chubin, Drago, Rosser). EAC meetings are held yearly at UIC over the life of the grant. Other necessary committee work are accomplished virtually through email and conference calls. At the first meeting, committee members assisted WISEST staff with establishing procedures and developing materials, ensuring that WISEST takes full advantage of existing state-of-the-art products and approaches.

During years 2-4 committee members advise on the technical soundness of on-going program efforts and, via Morrissey, submit yearly recommendations to Senior Leadership. Early in year 5, the EAC will refine the project final dissemination plan and assist with dissemination activities.
