There is a sea change in the transition from Ph.D. student or post-doctoral associate to Assistant Professor. At UIC the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs offers Faculty Orientation every Fall, and separate workshops for junior and mid-career faculty twice a year. UIC WISEST Faculty Development facilitators have developed a Repository of sample proposals, a Red Team of experienced faculty who will provide prompt feedback on proposals at early and late stages prior to submission, an Award Team who will work with faculty and their nominators by providing examples of award-winning nomination documents, and a Teaching Coach Team who will help evaluate educational plans for an NSF proposal, link up the junior faculty with educational assessment experts on campus, and work with faculty on improving student evaluations or alternative measures of teaching effectiveness.

For those providing faculty support and career development, materials which may be generally useful are listed under the tab:
Preparing Women for Academic Careers.

The head of the department and the senior faculty could make use of the checklist:

Junior faculty can navigate the links of helpful sites and sources together with a mentor:

Faculty should consult their Awards Team and:
