The Women's Reproductive Health, Research, and Policy Project at the University of Illinois at Chicago is grounded in the belief that every woman has a right to plan if, when and how to have a family regardless of race/ethnicity, socio-economic status or citizenship. Our mission is to conduct innovative, culturally-relevant research, to train highly skilled practitioners and to promote social policies that maintain a woman's bodily integrity. The Program advances this mission through its three components: a contraception research program, the fellowship in family planning and contraception, and the Center for Reproductive Health.

MEDICAL STUDENT CURRICULUM

Fourth year medical students are given the option of choosing a women's health elective. This elective gives students a brief introduction into family planning and contraception. The program consists of clinical, community, and research activities that address women's health across the lifespan in a variety of cultural contexts.

Medical students will be expected to read a series of articles consisting of a wide range of topics in women's health as well as rotating through a variety of reproductive health clinics in the Chicago area. These clinics will focus on all aspects of women's health including contraception, termination services, nutrition, intimate partner violence, racial disparities, and adolescent services. For more information about this program, please contact the CRH administrative line at 312-413-8681.
