Celebrating 150 Years
The beginning of 2009 marks the start of an exciting year for the
college--its 150th anniversary. The college has many exciting events planned for the year, culminating with the Timeless
Gala on September 26 at the Field Museum. While many took
advantage of the special ticket pricing available through December
31, tickets are still available. A special block of rooms is being held at
the Intercontinental Hotel on Michigan Avenue with free trolley shuttles
to and from the gala. Rooms can be reserved online or by calling (800)235-4670. For tickets, a listing of classmates registered (available soon) and more information, please visit www.pharm150.com or contact Deb Fox in the Pharmacy Advancement Office by phone at (312) 996-0160 or by e-mail at dfox4@uic.edu.
Building a Legacy
So far, many alumni have taken part in the Class Challenge, donating much needed funds to the Sesquicentennial Leadership Scholarship. The Leadership Scholarship will be the first award at the college solely funded by alumni as well as the first ever scholarship to cover full tuition for its recipients. Within the next month, updates on class rankings will be available online at www.pharm150.com under the Class Challenge section. Be sure to check in and see how your class is doing as well as to make a gift. For questions regarding the Class Challenge or the Sesquicentennial Scholarship, contact Chris Shoemaker by phone at (312) 996-3376 or by e-mail at cjshoema@uic.edu.
Request for Photos
As part of the Sesquicentennial celebration the college, along with alumni volunteers on the Sesquicentennial History Committee, is working on a project to document the its rich history. Currently the committee is looking for more photos to use with this special project. From field trips to fraternity events to lab photos, the committee is interested in whatever you are willing to share. For more information on how to submit photographs and to see a sample of what the committee already has acquired, visit http://web.me.com/leewest3/Site/UIC_Photos.html.
