Reunion Weekend

There is still time to register for the upcoming 2008 Pharmacy Alumni Weekend, April 4 and 5. Join us on Friday, the 4th, for a martini welcome reception and tours of campus. Saturday's events include continuing education sessions, lunch with the dean and the culmination of the weekend-a celebratory evening honoring reunion classes and alumni award winners. Challenge of the Deans

On Feb. 2, Dean Bauman and first-year student Brennan Ertmer competed in the annual Challenge of the Deans contest hosted by the UIC athletics department. More than 80 students, faculty, alumni and friends of the college supported Dean Bauman and Ertmer during the half-time free-throw contest. The College of Medicine took the title for the second year in a row, with Dean Bauman and Ertmer trailing by only a small margin. The UIC men's basketball team fared better, beating Youngstown State 86-72.


Fall Mentoring Dinner

A record number of alumni turned out for the Fall Mentoring Dinner, volunteering their time to spend an evening with current students. Graduates ranging from 1952 to 2004 represented over 430 years of pharmacy experience. The Pharmacy Alumni Association sponsors up to two mentoring dinners per year providing students invaluable one-on-one time with alumni. Dinners are free for students and a minimal fee for alumni to attend. Turning Tragedy Into Legacy

In October the college lost an outstanding alumnus when Robin Ford Nash, BS '77, PharmD '99, passed away. Dr. Nash' family, while grieving her untimely death, sought to immortalize her dedication to the pharmacy profession-especially clinical pharmacy practice-and the compassion for which she was widely known for. The scholarship will fund partial tuition for a third-year student interested in pursuing a career in clinical pharmacy. Look for more information on the late Dr. Nash and the Robin Ford Nash Clinical Pharmacy Scholarship in the upcoming Spring 2008 issue of UIC Pharmacist.
