Creating the Future
Nearly 150 years ago, an elite group of Chicago's most prominent pharmacists created an educational institution where they would train the brightest newcomers to our profession. They envisioned a place where they would elevate the practice of pharmacy to a science. Building on that tradition, the UIC College of Pharmacy today strives to provide superior student experiences in an enhanced learning environment.
According to the founders' intentions, the College stands as a shining example of innovation. Our faculty researchers race to discover new drugs for conditions such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease as well deadly infectious diseases. On the clinical side, researchers in the College continuously create new models of practice and publish their findings to advance scholarly understanding in that area.
To remain highly regarded in the areas of education, research and service, we continuously strive to recruit (and retain) highly capable faculty as well as build and remodel state-of-the-art research facilities.
Points of Pride
- The US News and World Report ranks UIC seventh among the top ten colleges of pharmacy in the nation.
- The College of Pharmacy ranks fourth among all U.S. colleges of pharmacy receiving National Institutes of Health research funding.
- UIC educates one in three Illinois pharmacists. And to date, we have trained more than 300 pharmacy practice residents and over 100 specialty residents and fellows.
