OTC Prevacid 24 Hour approved
On May 14, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration approved Novartis Pharmaceuticals’ Prevacid 24HR (lansoprazole) 15 mg delayed-release capsules as over-the counter for the treatment of frequent heartburn. Prevacid 24HR is a 14-day course of treatment and is expected to be available later this year.
