Fellowship and Training
As a leading research center, the CPR seeks to promote the advancement of research in pharmacoeconomics by providing post-doctoral research training experiences and specialty residency opportunities. Research fellows of the center typically have already completed a PharmD or PhD degree. The training program is 2-3 years in length and designed to produce researchers who will assume pharmacoeconomic research positions in academia, pharmaceutical industry, or managed care. Presentation and publication of research results in peer-reviewed venues is expected. Fellows/residents are involved in teaching of professional pharmacy doctoral students in the classroom setting and may themselves enroll in courses offered at UIC as approved by the
program director. Some individuals have chosen to complete an additional advanced degree (MPH or MS) during their fellowship/residency. Funding for fellowships has been provided by both pharmaceutical and managed care organizations, including Searle, Pharmacia, Pfizer, TAP, Novo Nordisk, Walgreens Health Initiatives, as well as other external grants. Past CPR fellows have gone on to successful careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, managed care, and consulting sectors. For more information regarding fellowship and training opportunities offered through the CPR, please contact CPR Program Coordinator, Katie Clarke, at kmclarke@uic.edu
