About Us

The College of Pharmacy, UIC, has been designated a WHO Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine since 1981 in collaboration with WHO on activities related to the use of traditional medicine (TRM) and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in primary health care. It is only one of the two collaborating centres for traditional medicine in the USA, with the second USA centre being located at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), NIH.  Our Centre serves primarily as a technical resource on herbal medicine/botanical dietary supplements in this international organization network.
