BPS Graduate Student Seminar Report Instructions

Report Requirement
Each student is to write a report each semester that they are enrolled in BPS 595 (Departmental Seminar) but do not report on a student research seminar or thesis defense. If you are unsure if you need to submit a report, please contact the course coordinator early in the semester.
The report should be written about the presentation of an outside speaker. This means that you should not write your report about the presentation of a student or faculty member of with a primary appointment in the Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences.
The report should be printed and turned in by 5:00 pm on the last day of final exams (see the UIC calendar) in the BPS department office mailbox of the course coordinator (Fall 2007 & Spring 2008, the coordinator is Dr. Jeong). The office closes at 5 pm so please do not wait until the last minute. Also, please email the seminar coordinator if you present a seminar or defend your thesis to confirm that you do not need to submit a report.
All students who do not meet this requirement will fail seminar for that semester; failure of a course mandates review of your continuation in the graduate program.
The report should be typed and should be at least one but not exceed two single spaced pages (single sided only) when using Times New Roman Font (12 pt font size).
The report should summarize the presentation of one speaker. The report should include a scientific critique of the presenation which may include potential holes in the argument or any potential applications that have been missed during the presentaiton. The report may also contain a critique of the presentation style; however, this should be relavent and not presonal in nature.
Thank you, the BPS Department Seminar Coordinator
