CRS 1st Place Student Poster Highlight

Biopharmaceutical Sciences M.S. graduate, Esha Desai, was awarded 1st place for an outstanding abstract, poster and oral presenation entitled "Macroporous Hydrogel: A Platform for Cell Encapsulation" at the 35th International Symposium on Controlled Release of Bioactive Materials. The presentation took place on July 13, 2008 in New York City. The work was conducted in the laboratory of and coauthored by Richard A. Gemeinhart, Associate Professor of Pharamceutics and Bioengineering and Assistant Head of Biopharmaceutical Sciences. Only nine students from nine hudred fifty three abstracts were chosen to present. This is the second time in two years that Ms. Desai has been selected as submitting one of the top five abstracts as she was awarded 3rd place in 2007. Ms. Desai recently defended her Master's Thesis and has joined Baxter Healthcare.
