CPR Changes Name
CPR now Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research
The CPR has changed its name! The new name, the “Center for
Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research” (still abbreviated
“CPR”), was approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education in
November 2012. The Center itself was founded in 2001 (see article on the
History of the CPR) and over time its scope has expanded beyond
pharmacoeconomics. A major area of research for the CPR is
pharmacoepidemiology, which focuses on drug effects (benefits and harms)
across populations, and the Center is now nationally known for
excellence in this area. Revising the name of the Center appropriately
highlights this particular area of emphasis. Accordingly, the mission of
the Center was also recently revised and is now “to advance
understanding of the impact of pharmacy and health care services,
products, and policy by conducting research in pharmacoeconomics,
pharmacoepidemiology, and patient-centered outcomes; translating and
disseminating research; and educating, training, and mentoring
researchers.”
