Thrombosis/Cardiovascular Outcomes Research  

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Center for Pharmacoeconomic Research and Department of Pharmacy Practice announces is seeking candidates for a 2-year fellowship in Thrombosis/Cardiovascular Outcomes Research.

The program aims to train clinicians to conduct research in drug therapy outcomes and pharmacoeconomics with application/emphasis in the clinical specialty areas of thrombosis, anticoagulation and cardiology. Knowledge and experience is gained in the use of research tools to evaluate economic, humanistic, and clinical outcomes of drug therapy, along with advanced training/experience in the clinical specialty area. Presentation and publication of research results in peer-reviewed venues is expected. Fellows will be involved in teaching of professional PharmD students in the classroom setting, and may themselves enroll in courses offered at UIC as approved by the program coordinator. Courses such as biostatistics and research methods are encouraged. Fellows may complete sufficient course work to obtain a masters degree (MPH, MBA, MS).

These programs are expected to lead to a career in outcomes research in academia, pharmaceutical industry, managed care, and/or health provider organizations.

Candidates should have a PharmD (equivalent or higher degrees will be considered), and have completed a pharmacy practice or managed care residency (or equivalent).
