The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is the largest institution of higher learning in the Chicago area, one of the top seventy research universities in the United States, and an increasingly signifi cant center for international education and research. Established in 1859, the College of Pharmacy stands as the oldest academic unit of UIC and is ranked among the top fi ve colleges of pharmacy in the country. The Department of Pharmacy Practice is the largest department in the college with over 90 research and practicing clinical faculty. In 1969, the Department of Pharmacy Practice initiated the pharmacy practice residency program as an extension of its commitment toward the development of postgraduate training programs.
