Advisor/Mentor Role: Show interest in advisee development, academic performance and professional activities. Encourage students to stay motivated and focused on their education. Discuss academic difficulties and make appropriate referrals. Encourage and assist with pharmacy career exploration. Be a role model. Meet with advisee(s) at least once during a semester, hopefully more often. Communicate with advisees regarding how to contact you. Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and discussions. Be available; return phone calls and emails. Be familiar with student services on campus. Be familiar with student privacy laws (FERPA: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). Be familiar with advisor/mentor resources available through OSA and the Office of Experiential Education. Review advisee e-portfolio entries (on Blackboard) and provide comments/feedback to the student. Given a rubric, provide assessments of semesterly advisee portfolio entries required by the College (on Blackboard). Personal ? Financial ? Career Provides interpretation of university or college policies and procedures. Maintains student record systems. Organizes college-wide events for students. Manages the faculty advising and peer advising programs. |
