Catherine Tredway

Kate Tredway is the program director for the UIC RN to BSN Online Degree Completion Program and is in her 12th year of teaching this program. As a clinical instructor in the UIC College of Nursing, she is based at the Quad Cities Regional Campus in Moline, IL. Kate has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award eight times, the University-wide Silver Circle Award for teaching excellence three times and the UIC Quad Cities Regional Campus Distinguished Alumni Award.
Kate has been involved in the early stages of online course development for UIC and the teaching of online courses. Along with UIC online instructional designers, she has co-authored publications on the transition of traditional face-to-face courses in nursing to the online format and learning environment.
Kate's nursing specialty area is community health nursing and, outside her duties in teaching, does volunteer consulting on program development and evaluation for various community health organizations.

Margaret Z. Cassey

Peggy is a clinical instructor in the Department of Health Systems Science in the UIC College of Nursing.
Peggy’s research has centered on technology interventions with community-based organizations, Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents and Chicago Department of Public Health clinic patients and providers. Health literacy and patient education interventions have been the focus of these studies. Peggy has also developed an honors option for undergraduate community health nursing students incorporating synchronous and asynchronous learning activities with nursing students in Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines.
In addition to her faculty role and participation on multiple committees within the UIC College of Nursing, Peggy serves as secretary on the UIC Senate Academic Services Committee, Senior Counselor for the local Alpha Lambda Sigma Theta Tau chapter and Communications Committee member of the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators (ACHNE).

C. Suzanne Fahrenwald

Sue Fahrenwald is a clinical instructor in the Department of Women, Child, and Family Health Science in the UIC College of Nursing.
Sue has been teaching undergraduate courses at UIC since 1996 in the area of pediatrics with the clinical component being taught at Children’s Memorial Hospital. In addition to her faculty position at UIC, Sue works at the UIC Family Clinic in the diagnostic unit for children with developmental delay.
Sue serves as a member of the board of the board of directors for the UIC College of Nursing Alumni Association. She is the Discipline Coordinator for the Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program and the Quality Improvement Coordinator for Home Health Company in Chicago. As a certified instructor of the American Safety Health Institute, she has taught first aid/childcare classes to pre-teens in her community. Sue is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.

Ruth Schumacher

Ruth Schumacher is a clinical instructor in the Department of Women, Child, and Family Health Science in the UIC College of Nursing. She has taught a variety of nursing courses with a particular focus on pediatrics.
In addition to working at the UIC College of Nursing, Ruth works in registry at a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/General Pediatric in-patient unit. She also reviews nursing textbooks for major publishing companies.
