Credit Non-degree Students
Interested persons can apply to take
public health courses in a non-degree status. Credit
non-degree students are accepted and allowed to register
for courses every semester. Non-degree applicants must
have a baccalaureate or its equivalent from an accredited
college or university. The number of spaces available
each term for non-degree students is limited; students
are encouraged to apply early. At present, SPH online
courses offered for academic credit are restricted to
currently enrolled UIC students, with the exception
of one course: Public Health Concepts and Practice (CHSC
400).
Procedure for Admissions
Applicant's must apply
through the University's online application system. We highly recommend you follow each step carefully. Mistakes can delay the processing of your application.
Proof of Degree: A baccalaureate or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. Non-degree applicants must submit proof of the degree with their application.
Domestic Applicants: A $50.00 check or money order made payable to the University of Illinois for the nonrefundable application fee.
International Applicants: A $60.00 check or money order made payable to the University of Illinois for the nonrefundable application fee.
Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The test score cannot be more than two years old. A minimum score of 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) is required; UIC's Institutional Code is 1851.
International students who require certification of admission (I-20 or IAP-66) sent to the Immigration and Naturalization Service will not be admitted as non-degree students.
Qualifications Regarding Your Application
Admission as a CND student does not guarantee admission to any of the School of Public Health degree programs.
CND admission is limited by a previously determined maximum number of students per class. Therefore, admission will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
-
Since admission is limited; it is advisable to submit a CND application as soon as possible. Regardless of the published deadline, once the School of Public Health has reached its CND admission limit, we will close CND admission.
-
To maintain CND status, students must register for at least one course for the term they are accepted. Failure to do so, will result in forfeiture of your student standing at the University.
Application Deadlines:

Transfer of Credit
All degree programs of the School
of Public Health permit transfer of credit for courses
taken in credit non-degree status. Up to twelve semester
hours of course credits may be transferred upon the
student's acceptance as a degree candidate and with
the consent of the academic division to which the student
has been admitted. Only course credits in which the
student has earned a grade of “B” or better
may be transferred.
For a complete description of the
conditions for transfer of credit, refer to the SPH
