Palladium Room
(The video archive is available below)

The session will provide a broad overview of state and national findings that have been obtained through the development of birth defect and oral health registries, surveillance systems, surveys, or related activities.

Representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Ohio Department of Public Health, Bureau of Oral Health Services; and University of Milwaukee Medical School will discuss the significance of data collected from multiple national and state sources and how they can be used to strengthen 1) the provision of services to infants, adolescents, women and children with special health care needs; and 2) the development of MCH policy and program planning. Additionally, the panelists will provide a broad overview on informatics and how the effective application of computer technology to quantitative aspects of MCH surveillance system data may enhance and facilitate the integration, organization, interpretation, analysis and distribution of information to the MCH community.

Panelists will address the role informatics plays in the decision-making process, development of policy, and translating data into valuable information.

The moderator will be Linda Bultman, PhD, of the Texas Department of Health.

The panelists will include: Paula W. Yoon, ScD, MPH, of the Division of Birth Defects and Pediatric Genetics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Mark Siegal, DDS, of the Ohio Department of Public Health; and Russell Kirby, PhD, MS, FACE, of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Milwaukee Medical School.
