Not all browsers have the same capabilities. Various functions and features of this course are dependant on the capability of the listed browsers. This of course does not mean that you cannot view the materials, simply that various things will not work properly.

JavaScript:

JavaScript is a computer programming language which works inside your browser. It allows additional functionality and interactivity from a Web page. This course makes liberal use of this feature. If the test above says that JavaScript is not turned on and you are using one of the specified browsers you will need to turn this feature on.

If you are using Netscape Navigator version 3 or up JavaScript may be turned on by selecting Options, Network Preferences, Languages. Find the checkboxes for both JavaScript and Java and check them both. Then Reload this page.

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 or up JavaScript may be turned on by selecting View, Internet Options, Advanced. Please turn on both Java and JavaScript and Refresh this page.

Cookies are small bits of information a Web site can store on your computer. An example of it's use is to store what page you are reading. Some people view cookies as a security risk. Not to say you should not be concerned but a few words are in order. Cookies cannot "look around" on your computer. They cannot find your name or tamper with your software. Audio / Video:

This course makes extensive use of RealPlayer G2 for audio and video. To take advantage of these materials you need two thing.

You can obtain a free media player here. Select "The basic RealPlayer G2, free, plays all Real content."

The quality of audio and video over the Internet is highly dependant on the speed, quality and the amount of traffic on your connection. As you are playing some audio/video you may experience some breaking up of the material. Dependant on which player you are using you may see a message displayed like "Network congestion". This is a sign of traffic on the network. It is usually an intermitant problem related to time of day. Under rare circumstances you may loose you connection altogether. In this case the player will display something like "Stopped". Click your player's start button to reestablish your connection.

If you wish to participate is a course from your place of work please view this test page while at your workplace. It is not uncommon for these enviorments to place a Proxy Server between you and the Internet for security reasons. You may have difficulty accessing some of our services.
