This
is a series of webcasts highlighting the work of the Maternal and
Child Health Care Bureau's managed care grantees.
Background:
Managed Care Grantees' Webcasts
The
emergence of managed care as a primary source of healthcare for
children with special healthcare needs fostered the development
of a managed care initiative funded by the Bureau. In 1998, the
Bureau funded 13 organizations to develop partnerships with managed
care plans. These 13 grantees focused on one or more key area in
working with managed care plans: identification, quality assurance,
models of care, family professional partnerships, and financial
and reimbursement strategies. This initiative has increased awareness
among federal and state agencies, health insurers, public agencies
and provider regarding the nature, breadth, and depth of the issues
confronting children with special healthcare needs and their families
who receive their care in a managed care setting.
This
webcasts series consists of four audio shows in which the grantees
discuss the successes and challenges of their projects, as well
as their plans for continuing the work begun under these grant projects.
Each webcast will focus on a specific topic area: identification,
care coordination, collaboration, and quality improvement. Following
the initial webcast, each show will be available on-demand in an
audio archive and a text-only format.
