Session Speakers

Faye Eldar, M.Ed., Family Liaison, Quality Community Managed Care Project: Phase II, located at the Center for the Advancement of Distance Education, School of Public Health, University of Illinois at Chicago.

Sandra S. Block O.D. M.Ed. is a professor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry and has 20 years of experience related to the visual needs of children with disabilities.

Pamela Caldwell is a Chicago parent of twin boys who have mulitple disabilities, including vision impairments.

Blind Children's Fund This is the site of the Blind Children's Fund, an education, advocacy, and family support program for families of young children with visual impairments. This site offers many practical, parent-tested "hands-on" suggestions for families, and will be of great interest to professionals as well.

Blind Related Links This site is a comprehensive international resource. Developed and maintained by Ron Marriage, a consumer, the site has extensive listings and is formatted for easy reading by persons with visual impairments.

Illinois Eye Institute The Illinois Eye Institute (IEI) is a multi-specialty eye care center serving patients from metropolitan Chicago, the United States, and throughout the world. Each year IEI serves over 60,000 people. IEI is a division of the Illinois College of Optometry and is affiliated with the University of Chicago's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science.

National Association for Parents of the Visually Impaired (NAPVI) This site is for the non-profit organization for parents committed to providing support to the parents of children who have visual impairments. NAPVI is a core partner for the Families & Advocates Partnership for Education (FAPE) project spearheaded by the Parent Advocacy Coalition for Education Rights (PACER).

Prevent Blindness in America This is a volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight. There is a large section of the website devoted specifically to children's eye health.
