Established in 1970 and fully accredited, the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health annually serves over 700 full- and part-time students and professionals practicing in the field. The UIC School of Public Health protects and improves the health and well-being of people in our city, state, nation and world by educating public health professionals and the community; conducting research to promote a healthy society; providing community health interventions; and affecting public health policy.
Our faculty, students, and staff are committed to bettering the communities in which we work. Whether working to decrease infant mortality or the incidence of asthma in a high-risk Chicago neighborhood, researching the latest approaches to success in smoking cessation across the country, fighting HIV/ AIDS in Kenya and Indonesia, or fighting pollution in eastern Europe, we are dedicated to identifying and responding to emerging health threats. And we get to work and live in one of the world’s great cities!
Our location in the heart of Chicago on one of the nation’s most diverse campuses offers students extensive opportunities to translate classroom learning into hands-on experience and engaged research. Faculty and students routinely utilize the educational and laboratory facilities of one of the world’s largest concentrations of advanced public and private healthcare facilities — as well as the city that surrounds us — to encounter every aspect of public health. UIC’s School of Public Health is ideally suited to address a full range of public health issues and solutions from inner-city violence prevention to addressing the international AIDS pandemic.
The commitment of the University of Illinois to the most fundamental principles of academic freedom, equality of opportunity, and human dignity requires that decisions involving students and employees be based on individual merit and be free from invidious discrimination in all its forms.
“The UIC School of Public Health is organized and devoted to providing students with ample educational and career opportunities. The small yet informative classes give students the core public health competencies and engage them in active discussions and innovative problem solving. The school provided me with some of the most important tools and resources to navigate my career in health policy.”

“If you are thinking of going into healthcare administration, this is the place to go. Being a part of this program is like being a part of a family. Unlike larger programs, here you get direct access to your professors, many of whom are healthcare executives and CEOs.”
