Regional MPH Program Requirements at UIC College of Medicine at Peoria

The admission criteria require the applicant to have a bachelor's or advanced degree in a health or related profession plus three years of paid public health or community health experience. The MPH Professional Enhancement Program (PEP) is a 33 semester hour program for medical, nursing and public health professionals working in public health organizations or in community settings. Physicians in training, including medical students and physicians in residency training programs, may also apply but must complete a field experience (5 semester hours) in addition to the 33 semester hours.

Graduate Concentration in Survey Research Methodology

Application to the GCSRM may be submitted at any time while a student is admitted or enrolled as a student in a UIC graduate degree program in a GCSRM participating academic unit. However, both application and acceptance to the GCSRM must be accomplished no later than the end of the semester immediately prior to the semester in which an applicant intends to complete a UIC graduate degree. Applications are considered on an individual, noncompetitive basis. There is no fee for applying to or participating in the GCSRM.

Graduate Concentration in Women's Health

Students must formally elect the Concentration by discussing their intent with their primary advisor in their home department, by submitting a plan of study to the Director of the Concentration, and by informing their home department. Students should submit a 500 word proposal indicating their interest in the Concentration, what they hope to learn from this Concentration, the relation of the Concentration to their future career goals, and their anticipated course of study in the Concentration.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is usually available to qualified students in the form of traineeships or research assistantships. Traineeships may include a monthly stipend and/or payment of in-state tuition and fees. Research assistantships provide students with opportunities to participate in faculty research projects and include a wage and, in most cases, a tuition waiver. Students admitted to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program (including MCH Epidemiology) are eligible to apply for MCH traineeships and assistantships while the Gerontological Public Health Training Program provides pre-doctoral and post-doctoral traineeships in the field of aging. Students may contact the university's Office of Student Financial Aid, the SPH Office of Student Affairs, or the CHS Academic Coordinator  at 312-996-8940 for more information.
