This DataSpeak program highlighted specific state initiatives that utilize findings from community and state level mortality reviews to improve MCH programming (i.e., needs assessment, continuous quality improvement, capacity building). Presentations by federal MCHB and state health officials highlighted the benefits of using three types of mortality reviews: Maternal Mortality Reviews (MMR), Fetal and Infant Mortality Reviews (FIMR), and Child Fatality Reviews (CFR) to augment population-based needs assessment data and guide the state policy development process.
