Tools for Monitoring the Impact of

Health Systems Changes

October 20, 1998

2:00-3:30 p.m. Eastern Time

This DataSpeak will highlight the work of The Family Health Outcomes Project at the University of California at San Francisco which has developed a number of tools to assist state and local health jurisdictions in monitoring the impact of rapid health systems changes on the health of vulnerable MCH populations. Dr. Gerry Oliva and her colleagues will discuss several of these tools including: a set of indicators sensitive to access to primary care services; a set of automated data templates with which to document trends; a monograph on selecting indicators in a multicultural environment; and a set of guidelines for the measurement of indicators where there are small numbers or in small geographic areas.
