RealPlayer Installation Instructions
Downloading the Player:
If you clicked on the RealPlayer icon you will be sent to a site to download the player. When you download the player save it to a location you can remember. If you use Windows 95 the Desktop is an easy location because when you have downloaded the file, you will see an icon for it on your desktop. If you have Windows 3.1 then save it to the root of the C Drive or a directory you can find later.
Installing the Player:
When installing over the 4.0 version of the player:
If you install to \REAL\PLAYPLUS, the RealPlayer Plus 5.0 will overwrite the previous player. If it does overwrite and you wish to revert to the RealPlayer Plus 4.01, you can redownload from the PlusZone Archives without charge.
To keep your 4.0 Player Plus and install the 5.0 Player, create a seperate directory when installing 5.0. When using 4.0 Player Plus, close the 5.0 Player Plus, including the tool tray icon. To close the tool tray icon, right mouse click on it and choose, Close. Then run Player Plus 4.0.
Once you have downloaded the player you need to find the file (see it on your Desktop or find it with Windows Explorer, or File Manager) and then click on it to begin setup. Follow the prompts and let it install itself into the directory it chooses unless instructed to do otherwise by your MIS department. Once installation is complete you will have a program group set up on your computer. Click on the Player application to open the player. Without an audio or video file it won't do anything other than open. Use the file on this site to test the player.
