Knowledge: Need to disseminate information. Funding: A Challenge, enforcement, grant-writing, legislation-make it a law that you can not receive a grant if you are in violation of OSHA requirements or to clean up OSHA violations. Need multidisciplinary approach for implementation: students, educators, artists, health care providers, parents, and community involvement. You need a broad base of support for your issue. Organizing is the key. Also communicate with legislators. Culture/tradition of Martyrdom: sacrifice self for your art/project/outcome. We must challenge this approach. Educate the educators. Reach younger people: young activists, think about prevention before it becomes a problem How to get government involved in health and safety in the arts: "sexy" issue-NIOSH, CDC. What about OSHA and the EPA? Arts can draw much public attention. |
