Daniel
Hryhorczuk, MD, MPH is the Director of the Center of
Excellence in Environmental Health at the University of
Illinois School of Public Health. Dr. Hryhorczuk is a Professor
in the Departments of Environmental and Occupational Health
Sciences and Epidemiology. Dr. Hryhorczuk is a physician
who is board-certified in occupational and environmental
medicine and in medical toxicology. He founded the Occupational
Health Service Institute and established the Center for
Children's Environmental. As director, he successfully led
our center in our effort to achieve designation as a World
Health Organization Collaborating Center in Occupational
and Environmental Health. He is a member of the National
Advisory Committee for Occupational Health.
Bernard
Turnock, MD, is a Professor in Community Health Sciences
and is Director of The Illinois Public Health Preparedness
Center, at the heart of which are online training initiatives
that will address the need for (1) a basic "Public
Health 101" course for all public health workers who
lack formal education and training in public health and
(2) a more extensive training program based on a framework
that emphasizes cross-cutting public health skills for key
categories of public health professionals.
Leslie Nickels is the Program Director for Continuing
Education and Outreach for the NIOSH ERC and is a lecturer
in the Division Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences
at the University of Illinois School of Public Health. She
is the Director of Training for the Community of Excellence
Program. Ms. Nickels is responsible for the development
and implementation of the on-line training modules in environmental
health, identify and direct the Environmental Webcast programs,
and develop and implement the Environmental response courses.
Peter Scheff, PhD is a Professor in the Division
of Environmental and Occupational Science and serve as the
Director of the Pilot Research Grants program for the Community
of Excellence. Dr. Scheff has over 20 years of experience
and has worked extensively with the Illinois Department
of Public Health on environmental health problems in local
communities.
Salvatore Cali, CIH is the coordinator of our Environmental
Health Hazard Evaluation program. He serves as liaison with
the Illinois Department of Public Health's Environmental
Toxicology Program. Mr. Cali has extensive experience in
community based exposure assessment. He conducts lead inspections
and risk assessments and is the lead instructor in the lead
inspector and risk assessor courses.
Babette Nueberger, JD, MPH is an Associate Dean at
UIC SPH and Assistant Professor in the Division of Health
Policy Administration. Before coming to the UIC SPH Dr.
Nueberger worked on environmental policy for Environmental
Protection Agency Region V.
Dr. Colleen Monahan directs the Center for the Advancement
of Distance Education. Dr. Monahan develops content for
the web, programs and produces web events. In this project
she will be actively involved in developing creative solutions
that best serve the model under development.
