Curriculum: Action/Assistance Plan

Goals: Program evaluation and implementation are two of the challenges in effective injury and illness prevention. Training is often the first step in gaining the skills and tools that help in improving existing programs. Defining an action plan is one way to take the second step towards reducing workplace injuries and illnesses.

Objectives: Participants will:

  • create an Action/Assistance Plan to be implemented during the next 4 months.

Materials needed: Action/Assistance Plan Matrix

Time: 1 Hour

How to conduct the activity: The class should be divided into same employer groups. If there is only one person from an employer that person should initially work alone and then join another single person or group. The instructor should ask each employer group too review the Advisor Report Card (page 2) they completed in the beginning of the class, the various exercises, and the notes from the "What do you want to learn" activity and generate a list of 2 recommended actions they will take at work over the next 4 months to reduce injuries and illnesses. For each action recommended the ask the employer group should note why they chose this recommendation and who in the workplace can help to implement the activity. Ask each group to share their ideas.
