Case
Goals and Objectives
The
overall goal of the Great Lakes Center for Occupational and Environmental
Safety and Health case studies in pediatric toxicology is to make
clinicians aware of the role of environmental toxicants in causing
adverse health effects in children.
At
the end of Case One, the learner will:
- Be
familiar with the components of the environmental history

Expand a typical differential diagnosis to include environmentally-induced
illnesses

Be familiar with the clinical presentation, pathophysiology and
treatment of a classic environmental poisoning
- Be
familiar with the clinical, governmental, and community resources
involved in managing exposure outbreaks, performing environmental
monitoring and advocating exposure prevention
