ASD: APPLIED TO SUMPS/DRAIN TILE

To increase PFE, suction can be applied to sumps and connected drainage tile. Current Illinois law prohibits the use of a sump as a single or "primary" point.

CONCEPT OF ASD VIA DRAINAGE SYSTEMS

• Radon and other soil gases can enter a home through the permeable fill or perforated pipes installed to de-water a building.
• By applying a vacuum to this permeable system, radon can easily be collected from beneath the building.

Drainage System Descriptions

• Sump Style:

  Consists of a sump that is either set into a layer of gravel beneath a slab or has a perforated pipe attached to it that runs around the exterior or interior of the foundation.

• French Drain:

  A perforated pipe laid in a gravel trench around the foundation which drains by gravity to a rock filled hole or down a hillside.
