SUMP AND DRAIN TILE DEPRESSURIZATION

SUCTION MAY BE APPLIED TO SUMP OR DRAIN PIPE

If the drainage system has a sump with a perforated pipe attached to it, the system may be connected to the sump or the drain pipe. In either case, a sump lid will be required.

If the drain is a french drain system without a sump, the only method of attachment of the system is to the drain pipe itself.

An Inspection of the Sump May Indicate Your Options

  • A: Single drain entry often means an external drain loop exists outside the foundation.

  • B: Double drain entry generally means a drain loop exists inside the foundation.

  • C & D: No pipe attached.

Attachment of a Sump Lid May Require Replacing the Pump

  • Placing a well sealed lid over a sump can interfere with the operation of the float switch of a pedestal style sump pump.

  • If a pedestal pump exists, replace it with a submersible pump.
