TREATING CRAWL SPACES AND OTHER EARTHEN
AREAS
Preparing
Area for Installation of Membrane
- Large rocks and sharp
objects should be removed.
- Uneven areas do not need
to be leveled since plastic will follow contours when vacuum is applied. Allow
for excess material to follow these contours or the vaccum will pull it away
from the walls.
Materials
for Attaching the Sheeting
- Polyurethane
caulk utilized for sealing concrete cracks also works well for sealing the
plastic sheeting to itself, or to the foundation walls.
- Duct
tape is useful for holding seams together until the caulk has cured.
- Use plenty
of ventilation when working in confined spaces.
