INTRODUCTION

Quality Assurance: a program for the systematic monitoring and evaluation of the various aspects of a project, service, or facility to ensure that standards of quality are being met. (Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 10th Edition, 1995)

The Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IDNS) regulates the detection of radon or radon progeny in dwellings and the reduction of radon or radon progeny in the indoor atmosphere through licensing requirements. Licenses are issued in accordance with the Radon Industry Licensing Act (RILA) and 32 Illinois Administrative Code 422 (Adopted Rule).
