Many of our MPH students are recently out of college. Their MPH curriculum will establish their professional identities. They bring to their studies
- An interest in working in public service
- A desire to be part of positive social change
- A focus on policymaking and public administration
Many have natural science or social science backgrounds, but some are history or political science majors, and a few have had training in the humanities, such as communications or philosophy. For the most part, our applicants have:
- A commitment to public service
- Better than a B average in undergraduate school
- An above average GRE or other test scores
- Letters of recommendation that support them as good students, excellent communicators, and potential leaders.
- A personal statement that explains what they want to study and demonstrates good writing skills
- A resume which shows active participation in their communities
Curriculum
Most of our comprehensive MPH students are full-time students, finishing the program in two years, including one summer session. The curriculum is designed to prepare the student to be a participant in public health policymaking and to be an administrator of public service programs.
