Surrey M. Walton, Ph.D
Dr. Walton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Administration at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Economics at UIC. He has been an active researcher within the Midwest Center for Health Workforce Studies for 6 years, and has also worked in creating the new Center for Pharmacoeconomic Research at UIC.
Prior to arriving at UIC, Dr. Walton received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1997, where he specialized in labor and health economics. His thesis was titled “An analysis of health care labor markets,” and focused on the labor market for registered nurses and nursing aides. His research typically involves quantitative analyses of health care labor markets, specializing mainly in the labor market for pharmacists, nurses and dentists. He has also worked in the areas of health services evaluation, health economics, and pharmacoeconomics. Currently he has over 25 publications, and has presented in national and international meetings.
