Eligibility

Students must meet the UIC School of Public Health admission requirements in order to apply to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program. Preference for admission is given to applicants holding an advanced degree within a professional discipline relevant to MCH and who have had at least two years experience in their profession. Applicants with a bachelor's degree, experience in public health programs or related areas, and clear professional goals are also considered.

How to Apply

Admissions to the UIC School of Public Health (UIC-SPH) are done in conjunction with the Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS), the online centralized application service for schools of public health. Under this new system, students will be able to apply to multiple schools of public health using one application and one set of materials. SOPHAS will collect and process all applications and will forward them to each of the schools to which the student has chosen to apply.

Applications for master's and doctoral degrees are only accepted for students starting in the fall semester. Applications for admission to the MCH program will be directed to the Community Health Sciences (CHS) Division in the UIC-SPH. Interest in the MCH program of the CHS Division is indicated by checking the appropriate box on the SOPHAS application. You will also be asked to provide letters of support and a personal statement that highlights your prior experience in MCH and your plans for a career in this field. Please be sure to carefully review all the SOPHAS application requirements before beginning the application process.

Application Deadline

Applications for admission to any of the MCH degree programs are due each year by February 1 for domestic students and January 1 for international students. All applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible.
