MCH Analytic Skills Online (at the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health) provides the following Skillbytes:
|
Target
Population |
This module describes estimating target populations for program planning. It specifically describes estimating populations of children with special health care needs using National survey data. |
| Using Census Data |
This module describes census data and how to use it, including an exercise for obtaining census data on the internet. |
| Software
Tips 1: Moving Data to Excel |
This tutorial demonstrates how to move saved SAS or Epi-Info output into Excel. For practice, SAS and Epi-Info data sets, SAS programs, and text files are available for download. |
|
Software
Tips 2: |
This tutorial discusses software issues involved when calculating rates from individual level data. We demonstrate an approach in SAS for generating correct numerators and denominators, producing output with infant mortality rates on a per 1,000 basis. In order to complete this tutorial, sample SAS datasets and SAS programs are provided. |
| Infant
Mortality Trend Analysis |
This tutorial describes how the state of Hawaii used trend analysis to gain a better understanding of its infant mortality rates. |
| Cumulative Teen Pregnancy |
This skillbyte presents a method for calculating the cumulative risk of first time teen pregnancy.. The skillbyte discusses the conceptual basis for this measure, describes both its advantages and limitations, illustrates how to calculate it, and provides two ready-to-use Microsoft Escel workbooks that allow users to enter their own data and automatically calculate the cumulative risk of first time teen pregnancy. |
