UIC SPH Professor Wins A&WMA Educator Award

Peter Scheff, PhD, UIC School of Public Health Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, has been selected to receive the Air & Waste Management Association’s (A&WMA) Lyman A. Ripperton Environmental Educator Award.

Dr. Scheff will be recognized at the association’s 101st Annual Conference & Exhibition, during the Honors & Awards Luncheon Ceremony on June 26, 2008, in Portland, OR.

The Lyman A. Ripperton Award is awarded for distinguished achievement as an educator in some field of air pollution control. It is awarded to an individual, who by precept and example, has inspired students to achieve excellence in all their professional and social endeavors. It recognizes the abilities that only a few in the education profession possess -- to be able to teach with rigor, humor, humility, and pride.

The A&WMA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional organization that provides training, information, and networking opportunities to thousands of environmental professionals in 65 countries.
