IOM of Chicago Presents Award For Excellence In Prevention Of DiseaseWayne Burton received the Portes Award for Excellence in Prevention of Disease by The Institute of Medicine of Chicago. The award is presented annually to an individual in the Illinois/Chicago region who has shown excellence in health promotion and disease prevention through his or her contributions in the area of prevention of disease and the remediation of disability and human suffering.
Burton is currently medical executive for JPMorgan Chase, adjunct professor of community health sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health and adjunct professor of occupational medicine at UIC. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the IOMC, where he also served as a board member.
Burton has co-authored over 75 articles on employee health and productivity and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Health Achievement Award from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the Jonas Salk Health Leadership Award from the March of Dimes and the Innovation Award from Mental Health America.
