About PHPTG

The mission of the Public Health Training and Practice Group (PHTPG) is to improve population health by strengthening the infrastructure of state and local public health systems. This is accomplished by providing training and development opportunities for individual public health workers, as well as public health agencies and their partners.

PHTPG operates as part of the Center for Public Health Practice, in the UIC School of Public Health. Our work involves collaborating with public health agencies and organizations to improve population health by building public health infrastructure.

PHTPG provides professional training that is designed to meet the needs of public health organizations. By providing a complete program continuum, from practitioner, to manager, to leader, PHTPG works with our partners to identify specific training needs, and to develop programs that foster improvements in organizational performance.
