Overview - PH 425: Community Agenda Setting
After completing PH 425, learners will be proficient in developing and applying a logic
model demonstrating interrelationships among risk and protective factors for population
health that are commonly used in community health improvement processes. Key aspects of
this competency expectation include:
- defining risk and protective factors for a given community
health issue
- placing risk and protective factors in a hypothesized
causal pathway or logic model and describing interrelations among
variables
- developing a logic model,
demonstrating interrelationships among variables of interest that will lead to a plan,
including goals, outcome and process objectives and implementation steps
- applying the
basic public health sciences, including behavioral and social sciences, biostatistics,
epidemiology, environmental public health, and prevention of chronic and infectious
diseases and injuries
- identifying and
retrieving current relevant scientific evidence
