Overview - PH 427: Community Engagement
After completing PH 427, learners will be proficient in identifying and applying principles
for community engagement and participation in community health improvement processes. Key
aspects of this competency expectation include:
- identifying principles for
community engagement and involvement in public health practice
- identifying barriers to
community participation in practice (community based health promotion) and strategies to
overcome them
- demonstrating understanding
of strategies to select and engage communities of interest
- designing a strategy to
develop a community partnership for assessment and planning
- utilizing leadership, team
building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to engage key stakeholders and build
community partnerships
