Overview - PH 464: Public Health Emergency Response Management
After completing PH 464, learners will be proficient in applying principles and tools of emergency and
disaster management to public health emergencies, including bioterrorism events and
threats. Key aspects of this competency expectation include:
- describing the structure and operations of the routine emergency
medical services (EMS) system
- listing specific regional and national levels agencies that play a
role emergency and disaster responses
- describe your functional role in emergency responses, including
bioterrorism events and threats
- describe your functional role in emergency responses, including
bioterrorism events and threats
- describing a typical timeline for disaster response and
identifying where specific organizations, including public health agencies, enter into the
response timeline
- describing the basic principles and structure of incident command
and incident management systems, including the chain of command
- describing the correct use of all communication equipment used for
emergency communication and identifying communication strategies within your agency, and
with the media, general public, and personal relations
