Public Health and Corrections Program

The Public Health and Corrections Program focuses attention on the health care needs of jail and prison inmates through teaching, research, and service activities. Two courses are offered at the School of Public Health in public health and corrections, one at the master’s and one at the PhD level. Other initiatives include the establishment of a national data base on health care services and issues in jails and prisons throughout the country and assessment of the role played by substance abuse treatment programs in facilitating health care utilization by offenders.
