Update on Strategic Planning Process

Dear Colleagues,

Our Strategic Planning Committee has been hard at work. With help from facilitator Dr. Patrick Lenihan, we have made rapid progress in taking the work of the past 18 months and synthesizing and prioritizing it. The plan will be completed by the official end of the semester, which is May 16.

On Wednesday, May 12 from 12:00 to 4:00 P.M., there will be a schoolwide retreat to finalize and adopt the plan.

Now it is time for our community of staff, students, faculty and alumni to come together to review and endorse the draft plan. I can promise you several things:

1. Your input will be real and is needed. This is a draft plan, with questions all of your must answer regarding emphasis, priorities, content, etc.

2. The plan is brief. The goal is to have a four page document. By Wed. May 5, you will be able to go to the website and download a document you can read quickly, then come to the retreat prepared to help to finalize it.

3. The plan is important. It will guide resource allocation and decision making for the next five years. It is in all of our interests to participate in its' review.

The Strategic Planning Committee has again set up a registration database for the SPH School-Wide Retreat to help with the organization of the Retreat and determine the amount of lunches we need to order. Please click on the URL to register by Thursday, May 6, 2004. http://apr.sph.uic.edu/strategy/registration/.

In addition, please review the following documents before the Retreat (agenda, guide to May 12 retreat materials, Powerpoint presentation to the SPH Executive Committee, the strategic plan schedule, mission/vision statement, summary of strategies, and details of each strategy). All these documents are included in one file.

May 12 Retreat Documents

I look forward to seeing you there.
