Checklist

Everything you should have done before classes begin:

  1. Meet with Your Advisor

(There will be a hold on your account until you have done this.)

Note: If you are a new international student, you will have a registration hold (also called a SEVIS hold) placed on your record. In order to register for classes, you must report to the Office of International Services (2160 SSB) to clear the hold.

  2. Register for Classes via Web For Students

To register for classes, you will use the UI-Integrate Self-Service system. To use this system, you will first need to establish two IDs with passwords: a NetID and an EnterpriseID. Registration for newly admitted students will open early May. Consult ‘Web for Student’ for your Time Ticket.

Before you begin, gather the following information:

    • University Identification Number (UIN) or Applicant ID – This has been provided to you in your Notice of Admissions Letter.
    • Social Security Number (SSN) OR,
    • If you did not provide your SSN during the admissions process, a Temporary Control Number (TCN) – This has been provided to you on your Notice of Admissions Letter.
    • Date of Birth

If you still need help registering, call the Registration Help Line at (312) 996-8600 Mon-Fri 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

To see what SPH courses are being offered, go to the SPH Course Schedules page on the UIC SPH website, and click on the SPH course schedule for the appropriate semester.

  3. Register for your UIC Computer Account

The NetID is REQUIRED! It allows you to register as well as allows you access to campus specific sites and services, such as email, use of computer lab equipment, etc. You will need to establish your NetID to establish an EnterpriseID, so it is important to set up your NetID first.

    • Go to http://activatenetid.accc.uic.edu
Follow the instructions listed for establishing a NetID and password.
Be sure to remember your password.

If you have any problems establishing your NetID and password, contact:
    ACCC Help Desk – (312) 413-8080
    Email: consult@uic.edu

  4. Activate your UIC email account – it’s mandatory

To activate your UIC email account, visit: https://tigger.uic.edu/htbin/cgiwrap/bin/
    password/pass.cgi?dispatch=acct_panel

Why you need to activate your UIC email:

    • Access to SPH listservs
    • Access to any UIC public lab on campus
    • Network Services Kit (NSKIT) usage
You will be able to access the university system and the Internet from an off-campus site through dial-up telephone lines; no additional Internet provider is necessary.
    • Online course access
All MPH students will take at least one online course during their academic career at SPH. In order to access the course one must establish a UIC account.
    • Access to thousands of online journals through the e-library.
    • To keep updated on university happenings.
    • YOU CANNOT REGISTER WITHOUT IT!

If you'd prefer to use an alternative email account (e.g., a hotmail or yahoo address, rather than the UIC account) you should set up the mail forwarding mechanism for your UIC email address. To do this, visit emails tools: http://www.uic.edu/depts/accc/home/EMAIL.html.

  5. Establish your Enterprise ID and Password

The EnterpriseID allows you access to UI-Integrate Self-Service – the University-wide administrative system for official records, e.g. Student Services, Financial Aid, Billing, and other services.

    • Go to: https://apps.uillinois.edu and select the Student & Faculty Self-Service link. Next, select University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) link, scroll down, and follow instructions for first time users. You will then be prompted for your NetID. When you type in your NetID, add “@uic.edu” at the end. For example, if your UIC NetID is joan, enter joan@uic.edu.

Click Enter. You will be prompted for your NetID password (the one you established in the last step)

    • You will be provided your EnterpriseID.
NOTE: In many cases your Enterprise ID will be the same as your NetID. If your NetID is different from your EnterpriseID, you will need to know both depending on which system you wish to access.
    • Once your Enterprise ID is displayed, you will need to establish an EnterpriseID password. There are specific guidelines for setting your password. Please follow the guidelines carefully.
Please remember your EnterpriseID and password. You are now ready to register!

If you have any problems establishing your EnterpriseID and password and/or registering for classes, contact AITS Help Desk at (312) 996-4806 or email helpdesk2@uillinois.edu

  6. Register for courses

    • Using a web browser, connect to https://apps.uillinois.edu
    • Choose the Web Self-Service option
    • Select your campus.
    • Log in using the EnterpriseID and password established in step 4.
    • To Register: Click “Registration & Records”, then click “Registration”, then click on “Look up or Select Classes” then find the class you wish to register for by subject, course number, etc.

If you need help, dial the Registration Help Line at (312) 996-8600 open Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.

  7. Obtain your UIC Photo ID

To obtain your UIC ID, you will need a printout of your schedule and a photo ID. You may obtain your printout using the online registration system.

Go to the Student Services Building (SSB) at 1200 W. Harrison, Suite 1790 and they will take your picture. You may contact Photo Services at (312) 413-5940.

  8. Register for the SPH listservs

There are 2 student listservs SPHNEWS and SPHVIEWS. SPHNEWS is MANDATORY! This is where important notices and deadlines will be sent from faculty and staff at the school. You will be held responsible for all information on the listserv.

SPHVIEWS is an optional listserv which we highly recommend being a part of. This is where students can post to each other. Several job opportunities are posted here as well as events and other information. Once you establish your UIC email, using this email send a message to listserv@listserv.uic.edu and in the body of the message type “subscribe sphnews” without using the quotation marks. Please be sure to type it in the body of the email and not the subject. To subscribe to SPHVIEWS send a separate email to listserv@listserv.uic.edu and type in the body of the email “subscribe sphviews” without using the quotation marks. You will be asked to confirm this request by replying to the verification email that will be sent to you and typing “ok” without the quotation marks in the body of the email. If you have any difficulty, please contact Gwen Slaughter at gwens@uic.edu.

  9. Fill out your building access form

(Be sure to include ALL numbers from your UIC ID including
the black and blue numbers; on new cards they are the bottom numbers.)

The building access form will be in the orientation packet you receive at orientation and are also available in room 181 SPHPI.

Return the forms to your division’s academic coordinator.

This will give you access to both the SPH-West and SPHPI buildings after regular hours.

The form is available online here.
